Energy
The deciduous forest has a pyramid of energy. This energy pyramid has the first level which is grass, trees, shrubs, and plants. The second level is all of the primary consumers which eat the plants, grass, trees, etc. The third level is secondary consumers which eat small insects and rodents. The fourth level of the energy pyramid is carnivores such as bears which eat herbivores.
Biomass
The amount of living matter at each level decreases from the one below it because there is less energy to support the organisms.
